Martin Parr Images

So let's start with the Switzerland one first. I think this image is a seriously moment. There is maybe one of the most beautiful scenes behind these people in the world, and they are choosing to look at scarfs. Humans, its awesome how stupid we are.

So I like the mohawk image a lot as well. It is a mother and a daughter. I like it because the mother has a bit of look of disdain on her face, but is isn't to the point of hate. It is just a look of yep this is my crazy daughter. And I really like that.

So bald man, how much do you want to be friends with him, I do. Parr said he followed this man secretly to get this shot. It is hilarious. I mean what else can you say but hahahahaha, bald people.

Last the dress picture. This is one of my favorites. I love it because there is a stain on her dress. Let it be known that this happens to me at every event where I wear a dress. It is a nice dress. I doesn't fit her, and there is a stain on it. But she is there and wearing it. And I get that feeling right as I the image.

Alright we shall start with hamburger over here. I think this image is interesting because, 1 i am instantly attracted to bejeweled nails, and 2 she king of gives this gross feeling when I look at her. I feel like, even thought I can't see her face, that, that isn't her first hamburger. And from what I can see of her face, I think it is interesting that a woman would eat like this. I also love that it is in color, because it adds to the image of this woman. I like the the picture because it is a portrait without the face.
When I saw the tanning woman for the first time, I could not stop laughing. I mean it is hilarious. I love that she is tanning in full makeup and jewelery. I love that her eyebrows are drawn on. To me this image makes me feel like she is pasting on a tan, like everything else on her body. And it is also hilarious

Martin Parr

Alrighty hello friends,
So I am writing this and I am extremely ill, the doctor has no idea whats wrong with me, god bless modern medicine. Anywhoo, I am trying to do work over here, and I want to do photo things, so here we go get excited.
I found Martin Parr like 3 years ago. I find his work to be brilliant and absolutely terrifyingly odd and hilarious at the same time. I feel like so often we look for deep images. The type of image that has that wow effect the moment you see it. I never really get that feeling with Parr's work. This tern I have seen beautiful demonstrations of pure horror in photography. Some shots stick with you, and some shots have with me. They have so much emotion, so much depth, and so many of them will never let me forget them. And until seeing Martin's photography I felt like that is what photography was to me.
Martin Parr take a very different and strong stance against this type of one raw shot photography. He shoots things, such as nudist conventions, people ignoring beauty and shopping, food, food consumption, people tanning, and his newest project, the last parking space. Its different, it is incredible odd, and I love it. It makes me laugh, and I find my self asking, are humans really like. I find his work to be awesome. Here are some of his images, and even more of my comments. By the way he is the photographer that makes me say seriously more than ever before.

1 Shot

At first I thought that this assignment would be very easy. And right to the point of where I fell taking the picture I thought it would be easy. That's right folks I fell in the cooled snow, it was miserable, and I lost the shot I wanted. Ahhhh 1 Shot why Slade.

Lot

Lottie Elizabeth Wall was born on October 7th 2001. Her favorite color is pink. Her favorite food is pumpkin cheesecake frosting. She likes crocs, Barney, and Elmo. She loves water, hugging, and Eskimo kisses. Lottie was never supposed to walk, yet alone walk with crocs on. She was never supposed to go off her feeding tube, yet alone eat pumpkin cheesecake frosting. And she was never supposed to hug me, because Lottie wasn't supposed to live.
There are many memories that I don't and will never had. I never held my sister until she was 1 month old. I never was able to take her and see my room, her O2 tubes didn't stretch that far. I never did all the things that I was promised that I would do. But as I think back on it, I mean all of the things that I "missed out on," I wouldn't change anything about the events for the world. I have a sister who truly will love me until the day she dies. She has no concept of hate. She is purely innocent. She is a person that I will and would do anything to protect from anything that might hurt her.
I wake up day by day wishing I could do more with her, spend more time. But time goes by, she gets bigger, and grows farther away from needing me everyday. But I will always love her, and she will always be more than a miracle in my family and my life. I am a lucky person to be so blessed with Lottie. And I hope that through these pictures you can see, that she was supposed to die, and today she greets me at the door and say, " Hi Emma how are you?"  And that is better than any memory that I was told that I would create.

Feelings... Don't Worry They Are About My Photo's.

Light: Before shooting I always try to think, why am I doing this, what is the big reason that I need to shoot this. And then it hit me, Emma, (I like to pretend God said this to me) there would be nothing without light. There would be no photography. So I thought the least I could do was show a little appreciation. The interesting thing about light is that it is truly different at every minute of the day. The days light will change in a matter of seconds. Even while writing this, I have already seen the light disappear behind the mountains. That was what I wanted to show, I guess. The idea the no shot was similar. The ideas that light will mold and change as you want it to, but also as it wants to. I wanted shoot this idea along with the idea that no shot is similar just because of time.
I shot in a couple different places. I shot a couple for this assignment while shooting for my final project. Morning light is obviously a big interest of mine, so I had a lot of fun with these, but trust me when I say my others are much better. I also shot at a couple parking lots, and some roads and highway intersections. I shot in this forest about fifteen minutes from my house. I had shot there before, my best photos from spring term in my opinion were from there. I got really lucky over there.
My first shot, well Slade, I GOT ON MY BELLY! I tried to show the idea of light disappearing. The idea that that light would not be there for that long. I looked the shot as a picture, but not as much as for the assignment.
My second shot was a little bit frustrating, because the actual image look much better than it was portrayed by my camera. I would have liked to worked with it a little bit more, trying out different techniques but I lost my light.
I shot my third image about 10 times. I choose the darkest of the images.
My forth and fifth shots are my favorite, mostly because I love it when you get really close and see them. They have weird light on the phone polls and I love that.
So that's about it.

Last Picture

Get on my Belly

This assignment made me realize many things. One, being the funny thing, that my but is very upset at me when it is freezing. It was sticking up and cold the entire time, which I am pretty sure gave me some form of hypothermia or something of that liking. And also I cannot count the many times people either looked at me like I was crazy, pulled there children very far away from me, or yelled out nice a**, which I won't lie boosted my ego a wee bit.

But on a serious note, I learned that getting low makes you get close. I had a bit of realization that getting detail is sometimes better than getting a overall good image. I also learned a little about light. I liked how lighting is completely different down low, and I had a ton of fun playing around with that.

So I am putting up 6 images

The first one was my first shot. I find that I usually like my first shot the most. I like how the image keeps going until the clouds cut the image off. I also like how the gravel is more focused that the image, and you have to look to see that.

The second image is one of my favorites because I have never thought that the side of a curb had amazing texture, but this was awesome. I loved the focus on this image. And I love the curb texture.

This third image is probably the best showing of what this assignment represents. It is an overall good image. And I like the centering of it.

The forth and fifth image show my playing wit light. Lets just first say that I sacrificed my hygiene for this one. And it was a little bit gross. It was Emma playing with like, let me know whatcha think.

Lastly the 6th one is fun stuff. This is my kind of style and even though my lens is kind of blurry, I like the image alot

Over all I really liked the assignment. I thought that being on the ground would make the my picture dark and kind of sad. But I think my images were happy and had good color stuff.

Minor Mistake

3rd photo-NYC Actress
4th photo-Annie Leibovitz

More Annie Leibovitz

So these are all Annie Leibovitz's shoots. The first on is of Queen Elizabeth. I love the natural light in the back. I also love how the Queen looks. Leibovitz shoots her in the authoritative way, and she definitely makes her look like the queen.

The second photo is of a low income Brooklyn family that Leibovitz shoot. This is not her typical type of photography but I think this image is very powerful. You get this feeling of love in the family, but also that there is pain there.

This picture is a self portrait of herself. I thought you might want to see what she looks like.

The 3rd photo is part of Annie's project Woman. She did black and white of famous woman in society. This woman is a famous theatre actress in New York City. I like this photo because most of Annie's stuff is staged, but this photo looks very natural. I also love the cigarette because it gives the woman a more humanistic feel, which is something that Annie is very good at

Annie Leibovitz

In my opinion, Annie Leibovitz is by far the best portrait photographer of this century. I have been attracted to her work since a kid. On of my earliest memories is when my father told my not to look at this Rolling Stone Magazine book. So naturally I did. My first picture that really had that wow effect on me was the John and Yoko Ono cover of Jan. 1981. At first it was the shock factor, that guy is naked, wow that is a little gross. but then I looked at the photo. Now at the mear age of four I had no clue what made a good photo, (nor do I know that much to that today) but I remember feeling my skin tighten and my hair stand up. For a minute I was in ah. Eventually I went back to pestering my sister, or something along those lines. But this photo will and forever has been burned into my memory.
Today I look at that photo often, and relay back to it. It is really the only photo that captures love to me. I don't mean to rant, but I have been through many trials in my life, and oddly enough these events have been documented by hundreds of photographers. But I don't see love. John Lennon, although being a bit of a stoner, lived in love. There aren't people like that in this world that often. He loved Yoko Ono. And there was never a love letter released, or a song entitled Yoko, there is that photo. This photo captured John Lennon's love for his wife. That concept is so powerful and truly does make this image so amazing.
I don't like shooting portraits. I don't have the steady hand for it, nor the ego to work with people like that. But I love portrait photography. And Annie Leibovitz's John Lennon and Yoko Ono portrait is the reason why I love portrait photography, and in a strange way, am continually looking for another portrait to affect me like this one.

To mother

Final Shoooting

So for my final shots I a plaining on doing landscapes at danw. I have two landscapes that I would like to work with. The first one is on 215 and it is the large piece of land that you see when you come into Park City on your left. I pass it almost everyday, and most times it is dawn when I see it. The amazing thing that is going to be a sick photo is that the fog stays in that area until about 7, but the sun crystalizes the area. It is beautiful. The second place is Gardmens Pass. This is the highest point in Park City. You get this amazing view of the city, but at dawn you get the intresting contrast between the stars, the sun, and the city.
I am really looking forward to shooting this, because in my opinion landscapes create beautiful picture. I am inspired by the work with trees by John Seton, and morning and dusk landscape by Ansel Adams. I am also inspired by the idea of showing the sun's charge as we move closer to winter. Because we loose the sun, I feel like the sun become so much beatuiful during this time. And because of that, the rising of the sun is the time where we can see the sun and its touch on earth.
I cant wait to shoot this, and I am really motivated to do this assignment.

Okay I am not sure these will make sense, but here it is. I shot 2 happy, to sad, and 1 normal. I feel being sad is over-rated. So I tried to to unnatural and overly acted. So the two sads are supposed to give you the feeling of unnatural saddness. I also used the bareback, because not many people feel sad without clothing on.

The happy pictures are also unnatural because overly happy isn't a nutural emotion. The stuffed animals are for children. They will always be happy and overjoyed. So these picture are simple but with a moment of large emotion.

The normal picture is what I do. Whenever I am in a normal state of emotion. I put my hat pver my head.

So you get these or you don't.

Photo Guy I like

This is Geoff's stuff. He is one of my Dad's best friends. He is a CA guy. He came up with the Just Do It Nike adds. I sat down with him last winter and he told me how he shot this. It is a model covered in Christmas Lights. If you also look at his rider's stuff, you see how he blows up light in a visual appearing way. So yay for Geoffry

High Key Low Key

I staged all of these. I was inspired by Apple photo's of computers. I tried to make them sharp and simple. I really like the rose photo and headphones photo.

Hi Comrads

Hello,
This is your friendly friend Emma. I have nothing to do today during class. Sorry, Mr. Slade. So I am learning that I could have used my time a little better, thanks Mr. Slade. So I have a story to tell. Once upon a time, Mukashi Mukashi, Emma went out to make pretty pictures. And she went to a forest. But the forest was owned by someone who wouldn't let Emma on the land. So she snuck on. But then the evil forest owner saw Emma. So Emma threw her self to the ground. And that did not work out in her favor. She ripped her "nice pants" and cut her knee open. No Bueno. Emma lost a lot of blood, and does not remember much of that night. Emma's mother said that she should, "Take it easy" on Sunday. And she didn't do much on Sunday. And now she is behind in photo, poop.
The End
